The Irony of Value
Buried amongst demolition debris is a $3,000+ AUD European made armchair that is nowhere near end of life. Which makes me wonder about the original design decision that would have likely demonstrated the investment in high quality as a sustainable commitment to longevity. But ultimately this argument isn’t realised because the value is no longer considered nor differentiated from the lower quality equivalent when it comes to demolition and landfill. Until we are all collectively accountable to these decisions the value proposition that quality and cost equates to longevity is flawed.
